Welcome to The Hill Primary Academy. We’re delighted that you’re considering joining our community. We strongly encourage you to come and look at our school before applying for a place. Please get in touch with our office team to make an appointment.
Reception Admissions
Each September, we admit 60 children into Reception, following the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council admissions process. Applications should be submitted online via the Barnsley Council website:
The deadline for Reception applications is 15 January in the year your child is due to start school. Offers are issued on 16 April (or the next working day). If fewer than 60 applications are received, all eligible children will be offered a place.
In-year admissions
If you’re applying for a school place outside of the usual admissions round (for example, if you move into the area), this is known as an in-year admission. These applications are also managed through Barnsley Council.
Oversubscription and appeals
If there are more applications than places available, priority is given in line with the Trust’s admissions criteria: children with an EHCP naming the school, Looked After and previously Looked After Children, siblings of pupils currently attending the school, and children living nearest to the academy.
If your application is unsuccessful, you have the right to appeal to an independent panel, as outlined in our admissions policy.
For help or paper application forms, please contact our school office. We are always happy to support you through the admissions process.
